Palm Pixi Is A Smaller Version Of The Palm Pre Albeit Without WiFi

Palm Pixi Hands On: The Smaller Pre With A Better Keyboard and No Wi-Fi

So you want a smaller Palm Pre? Lucky you, the company just announced the release of Palm Pixi–a smaller version of Palm Pre with better keyboard, but no WiFi connectivity.

The Palm Pixi still runs in WebOS and is available for Sprint subscribers. It has pretty much all the features that Palm Pre has except that it cannot connect to wireless networks. This smaller version of Palm Pre don’t have the pullable keyboard, which makes it lighter in weight than the Pre. It, however, has smaller display resolution, cutting off exactly 80 pixels because of the light weight. The Pixi can only handle 320×400 resolution because of its mere 2.36 inches height. The Pixi also has a 2-megapixel camera compared with the Pre’s 3-megapixel camera.

The Pre is priced at $150 and although there is no official announcement yet as to the date of release and the price of the Pixi, we’re betting that it will fall beneath the Pre’s tag.

SteelSeries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

SteelSeries Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard

Anyone who wants a gaming keyboard, must look into this Merc Stealth. Made by SteelSeries (makers of the Zboard), the Merc Stealth is unlike any portable keyboard out there. Sure, it may not exactly be foldable, but you’re going to enjoy the blue glow below the keys itself. You can have other color options for the glow: purple and red. You can also choose from four different illumination modes like subtle, ambient, intense, or you can set it to off.

The keys in the gameboard are all programmable since it uses the SteelSeries Z Engine software. “It has 34 gaming terrain keys that are tilted at an 11 inch angle, and they are comfortable as they are ergonomic.” There are also hotkeys for running, jumping, crouching, and all other important moves for an MMO game.

The Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard also has two 2.0 USB ports, plus gold-plated microphone and headset jacks that are then connected to a gold-plated USB connector.

You can get this Merc Stealth Gaming Keyboard at the SteelSeries store for $89.99.

Apple Finally Drops iPod Prices

Apple Drops iPod Prices: Old Models to Stay in Store, Shuffle to Be Axed?

I’m not very enamored with Apple products, and that probably comes with its astronomically high prices that I don’t exactly approve of. But recently, Apple announced that it will begin dropping its iPod prices.

The former $250 iPod Classic (250GB) is now $230; iPod Nano (8GB) former $150, now $130; iPod Nano (16GB) former $200, now $150; iPod Touch (8GB) former $230, now $190; iPod Touch (16GB) former $300, now $250; and iPod Touch (32GB) former $400, now $280.

What a drop in prices huh? This will probably send soaring Apple’s income from iPods Touch and Nano. Surprisingly, Apple also cut the latest released model–the 32GB iPod Touch. A $120-decrease in price is rather big, right? Rumor has it that Apple is planning to release something big in the coming days, hence, the drop in iPod prices.

And for those who are thinking of buying a Shuffle, think again. I think Apple is thinking of throwing the Shuffle out of the window… and the Classic may even come after that.

Asus Eee Reader Is Rumored To Have Dual-Colored Touchscreens

Asus Eee Reader Could Have Dual Color Touchscreens

I have been expecting that a lot of e-book readers will come out eversince the Kindle made waves. And I am also putting the e-book reader on top of my Christman wishlist. I was actually thinking of just asking for a Kindle, but this rumored released from Asus might actually begin changing my mind.

According to The Times, which may be released this coming Christmas, the Asus Eee Reader could have dual-color touchscreens. Aside from being colored, the second display could also be used for a virtual keyboard and Web browsing. This feature can actually compete with the functionality of a netbook. Asus is saying that the company might put in built-in speakers, webcam and microphone for Skype calls.

Pricing would be optional (depending on the customization you would like to put into the device), but they say pricier models might have 3G. The Times said that the Asus Eee Reader will be priced at $160, so watch out for it this December.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 Waterproof Camera: A Topnotched Power

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 Waterproof Camera Review: My Favorite So Far, Oddly

It doesn’t at all look like other waterproof cameras. The truth is when it comes to design, this one will not win you over.

This camera can drop from five up to 10 feet but with the external dive case for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1, it can extend its depth to up to 130 feet. The pictures taken with this 12.1-MP waterproof camera are best in low light, high ISO and daylight. The lens is pretty wide at 28mm, and the zoom can go up to 128mm. Overall, the images are second best to Canon, although the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 is more practical and portable since it does not have a protruding snout.

The video capability is best at a high resolution of 720p, which can be stabilized and recordable in motion jpeg or AVCHD lite.

Priced at $400, Panasonic has yet to announce the final date for this camera’s release.
